Communication across scripts

Complex Indic scripts present interaction and text-entry challenges. This research explores a hierarchical gaze-driven keyboard, with a focus on communication for people who cannot use standard input devices.

Gaze input connected to text entry
Conceptual gaze-to-text illustration, rather than a rendering of the keyboard layout.

Design approach

The work investigates Fitts’ Law-based layout optimisation to reduce gaze travel, predictive text entry using bigram and phonetic language models, and dwell-free interaction. Reducing eye fatigue and improving entry efficiency are research aims, rather than results asserted here.

Research context

Ongoing PhD research at the HAIx Lab, IIT Gandhinagar, with Dr. Yogesh Kumar Meena. The project connects gaze-based interaction with multilingual assistive communication.

I’m interested in conversations with researchers, clinical partners and speech therapists working in Hindi and Gujarati contexts.
